Loving Links
We believe the family unit is the heart of our community. To this end, the mission of the Loving Links program is to serve as a resource for families in Carteret County, in an effort to provide them with the tools needed to make healthy lifestyle choices, promote positive parenting skills, and provide them with healthcare services and information.
To meet this need, the Loving Links program is committed to designing and providing services to meet the ever changing needs of the community, as well as interfacing with area agencies to complement and promote their programs and services. Our goal is to facilitate the highest level of family health and unity that we are capable of providing. Our target population are children and families at risk, as well as all those persons who are committed to partnership with the families we serve.

Hispanic Health Line
Spanish family health care phone line at Carteret General is available for your spanish-speaking clients or their families when they need help accessing local hospital or medical services. Questions related to health are taken by a knowledgeable Certified Nurse Assistant... Call Vilma at 247-8485 or 808-6268. They may leave a message and it will be returned quickly!
Specially trained bilingüal hospital staff will pick up messages at intervals throughout the day. The interpreter assists the individual by interacting with various departments and health care professionals associated with Carteret General Hospital. Assistance with patient registration, patient assessments, health education and dialogue between the patient, physicians and hospital staff is essential for all in our community.

Classes scheduled through the Loving Links office of Carteret General Hospital are as follows:
- Breastfeeding
- In conjunction with the Childbirth Preparation "Lamaze" class, this teaches the basics and discusses common and related concerns. Call 808-6283.
- Childbirth Preparation - "Lamaze"
- Learn how to prepare for labor and childbirth. What to expect, body changes, breathing and relaxing during childbirth, what is "normal", about the baby and LAMAZE techniques.
- Safe Sitters
- Class for young girls and boys ages 11-13 years. Strives to improve the welfare of young children by increasing the availability of safe and nurtuning adolescent caregivers. Opportunity to acquire competency in rescue skills, basic first aid, and safe child care. Motto is Better sitters today, better parents tomorrow. Call 808-6355.
Loving Links Library at CGH
The Loving Links library has many videos, books and manuals to assist parents and families with subjects relevant to their needs. The TV program "Growing Healthy Kids" can be found on video and can be viewed right in the library.
Books are always an excellent source of information for parenting from the newborn
