Outpatient Diet Program
A healthy meal can be prepared for your lunch and/or dinner if
recommended by your physician. Carteret General Hospital's Food
Service Department will prepare your meal to either eat in or take
out. Your meal will take into consideration such things as caloric
consumption, low salt, low cholesterol, weight reduction, and low
fat. It is prepared just for you as specified by your physician to
provide nutrition education to individuals with special needs.
The program also includes a one on one
consultation with our Clinical Dietitian. In addition,
individuals receive meals tailored to their needs and food likes,
weekly weight checks, and the support of other participants.
Each participant's physician receives a monthly written
progress report.
The program teaches participants new ways to eat and better eating habits. By having meals prepared by the Carteret General Hospital Dietary Department, the patient can concentrate on relearning food behavior patterns instead of food consumption.
Remember, you can always dine in CGH's cafeteria between the following hours:
| Breakfast: | 5:30 AM - 9:30 AM |
| Lunch: | 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM |
| Dinner: | 4:15 PM - 6:30 PM |
We offer healthy menu items that are good for you. All of our Light Items are marked with a red heart. Please feel free to call our Food Hotline at 252.808-6117 to find out what is being served during the day.
